May 11, 2009 - - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will be the featured speaker at a ceremony announcing the 2009 recipient of the World Food Prize. The event will take place Thursday, June 11 at the State Department in Washington, D.C., and will also feature Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack; Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs David Nelson; and World Food Prize Foundation President Kenneth Quinn.

This marks the sixth consecutive year the announcement has been held at the State Department.

The 2009 Laureate will receive the $250,000 World Food Prize at a ceremony at the Iowa State Capitol on October 15. The award will be presented as past of the 2009 Borlaug Dialogue, which this year focuses on "Food, Agriculture and National Security in a Globalized World."
