The World Food Prize Hosts "Feed the Need: Nourish Your Neighbor" Photo Exhibit July 12 & 13

07/03/2014

Exhibit by the Iowa Food Bank Association and local photographer depicts hunger in Iowa.

Des Moines, Iowa (July 2, 2014) – The World Food Prize Hall of Laureates will host the traveling “Feed the Need: Nourish Your Neighbor” photography exhibit, a display that features real-life stories of Iowans affected by hunger.

The exhibit will be open to the public on Saturday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Sunday, July 13, from noon to 3 p.m., at 100 Locust Street, Des Moines.

The exhibit is part of the Iowa Food Bank Association’s hunger awareness campaign, and features the work of award-winning local photographer Molly Rogalla of Indianola.

Each day, 389,730 Iowans are affected by hunger – that’s one in eight Iowans – and more than 139,000 of those are children.

Struggling to put food on the table is something most people don’t talk about. By bringing to life this wide array of stories, leaders at the Iowa Food Bank Association hope to remind people about this critical issue in our community and encourage everyone to take action and help, whether by volunteering, donating or planting extra crops.
