Oxfam to host 100th Anniversary International Women's Day Event in Iowa

The World Food Prize encourages participation

Oxfam America invites all Iowans to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day on March 3 on the Iowa State University campus. The World Food Prize will seve as a host, and encourages all citizens to attend the event, which will honor the role women play in society, in their families and communities. At the event, you will participate in an interactive hunger banquet where you’ll hear the personal story of a woman-farmer, learn how women are feeding the world, and have the opportunity to lend your voice in support of their efforts.

Did You Know?

  • In many developing nations, women grow 60-80 percent of the food.
  • Seventy-five percent of the world’s hungry are women and girls.
  • Women farmers are developing solutions to feed their families and protect the environment.

The event will feature guest speaker Mme. Jacqueline Morette, a farmer and President of the United Women s Association in Pouille, Haiti. Details are below:
