H.E. Roberto Rodrigues
H.E. Roberto Rodrigues served as Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture from 2003 through 2006. He followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather by becoming an agricultural engineer and agricultural producer by training and went on to chair numerous organizations through his expertise in agribusiness.
H.E. Rodrigues served as President of the prestigious Brazilian Rural Society and the Brazilian Agribusiness Association. He has also served on the Board of many Brazilian producers’ associations and several advisory committees established by the government of Brazil. As a strong supporter of the cooperative movement, he has chaired the Brazilian Cooperatives Organization, the World Committee on Agricultural Cooperatives and the International Cooperative Alliance. H.E. Rodrigues currently serves as President of the Superior Agriculture Council of São Paulo’s Federation of Industries (FIESP) and co-chairman of the Interamerican Ethanol Commission (IEC) and the International Biofuels Commission. Additionally, he is a professor and has served as Chair of Rural Economics at São Paulo State University in Jaboticabal.
H.E. Roberto Rodrigues has authored three books and co-authored several others. He holds an honorary degree from UNESP (São Paulo State University). He has also served as a member of the Luiz de Queiroz Agricultural Studies Foundation, the Advisory Board of the Brazilian Agricultural Breeding Research Corporation (EMBRAPA), the State Science and Technology Board, the Board of Directors of the FGV School of Business Administration and the Higher Agricultural Council of the State of São Paulo, among others.
